The IPBike project is financed by the U-Bike Portugal program, a national project that promotes cycling mobility in the academic environment, thus encouraging the adoption of more sustainable mobility habits.
In this regard, the project provides the academic community of the IPB, the use of electric or conventional bicycles, as an alternative to the individual motorized means of transport.
To request an IPBike bicycle you must be a member of the IPB community and apply for membership in this page Register/Login.
If selected, you will be notified by email/mobile and will have 48 hours to pick the IPBike bicycle and its kit.
When picking up the IPBike bicycle a contract of use and a term of responsibility are signed, indicating that the user is fully responsible for the IPBike during the contracting period (between 6 to 12 months).
In addition, the user is requested the payment of monthly instalments in the beginning of the period in use. At this point or in monthly instalments, it will be requested the payment of an insurance and servicing costs.
• The user is fully responsible for the IPBike assigned to him/her during the period specified in the contract (between 6 to 12 months).
• If the user intends to quit the IPBike project contract, he may do so at any time, after one week of trial.
• It is up to the user to make cautious and responsible use of the IPBike, in order to keep it in good conditions of conservation, functioning and security. These bikes cannot be used, for commercial or profitable purposes or any other not foreseen in the regulation.
• In case of theft or accident, the user must follow the guidelines in the user area of IPBike.
• The user must watch over his own and other people’s physical integrity.
• The user must not lend, rent, sell or give the IPBike to third parties.
• The users will be responsible for any damage caused to the IPBike, total or partial loss of it, arising from a irresponsible or negligent use.
• With the purpose of promoting the good conservation of the IPBikes and avoiding situations of negligent use, each bike will have the email and mobile number to which any situations can be communicated.
• Failing to comply with the number of contracted km by the user will have the consequence of not receiving the security deposit in full.
• For monitoring purposes laid out in the previous number, the users commit themselves to allow the monthly registry of the km and other data, in the user area of the IPBike project.
• At the end of the contract the user shall return, the bicycle and its kit, to the IPBike headquarters.
The IPB assures an insurance that guarantees the accident situations in which IPBikes and their users may be involved, either isolated or involving other vehicles.
To be covered the user will have to pay the corresponding costs to the type of bicycle and the period of use to the IPB, at the beginning of the contract, or on a monthly basis.
For the good servicing of the IPBikes and as a security insurance in its use, the IPB assures the maintenance service for all bicycles.
Maintenance aims to ensure the monitoring and periodic check of the IPBikes state.
IPBikes can only be serviced in the location appointed by the IPB and on the dates scheduled in the user area.
The company that execute the bicycle maintenance service will register the carried out service and the number of km travelled during that period in the platform provided by the IPB.
Any action of corrective maintenance that may be required, arising from unexpected problems, shall be requested in the user area and require prior authorization.
The costs of corrective maintenance operations, arising from an irresponsible or negligent use, are of the user’s responsibility.
The use of an IPBike requires an initial registration of membership, by internet, which can be done all year round, by any member of the IPB academic community.
The use of an IPBike requires the signing of a simple contract between the IPB and the user, and a term of responsibility.
The request of use is subject to the payment of a security deposit and the maintenance costs and insurance, related to the use period.
The approval of the period in use is subject to the availability of bicycles and to the application of ranking rules.
The request of use is subjected to the respect and compliance for the rules established by the regulation of the IPBike project.
The request of use is subjected to the compliance of obligations to the IPB, namely the payment of study fees.
The criteria to be used in the attribution of bicycles and its user rotation are the following:
1.The biggest number of daily km to be assigned, against individual motorized transportation km.
2.The longer period in use.
3.The use of the bicycle in the travels for curricular internships, or official missions against the individual motorized transport.
In order to assure a bigger rotation and a larger number of users, the period of continuous use is from 6 to 12 months.
After the maximum period of use foreseen in the regulation, the user must resubmit to the ranking criteria (in case he complied with the previous contracts).
